Roses

After this dormitory suffered severe fire damage, even though it was still structurally sound, most possessions were left behind to rot. Some suites were so perfectly intact that I almost expected the tenant to walk in and yell at me for trespassing (one room even still had a clock ticking on the wall, which was more than a little creepy). This room was more damaged than others. The black stripe on the wall isn’t photoshopped, it’s soot from the fire. The bright red of the plastic roses serves as a huge contrast to the destruction caused by the flames and reminds us that at one time life thrived here.
